About Me:
Hello Hello!
I became involved in the engineering community when I took on the role of the NACE student representative from 2018-2020. The role helped me move into the corrosion industry with a focus on troubleshooting, designing, and implementing cathodic protection systems. In 2020, I eventually worked my way to ATCO as an Integrity E.I.T. with the Cathodic Protection & Evaluations team for Distribution Systems. Its there where my interest in EDI grew as I took on the role of a Lead for the Visible Minorities Subcommittee for ATCO’s Utilities Business Unit, before transitioning to a position with APEGA.
I currently work as an APEGA EDI coordinator executing tasks aimed at advancing gender equity within the Engineering and Geoscience professions in Alberta. In my spare time I read books, listen to podcasts, and watch documentaries that help me grow my knowledge and serve my passion for racial equity. Much of this comes from being an interracial woman myself.
Whenever I get a chance I love learning about different cultures through cooking! It also brings out my creative side. I also enjoy Netflix binging, and spending time with friends and family by going on walks where there are scenic trails.
Q: What is your favourite book?
A: Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult. I loved this book! It was the very first novel my younger self read that illustrated the compounded harm from racism, from a holistic viewpoint.
